Navarra to host 2026 National Open Data Summit in recognition of leadership

Navarra
has been chosen to host the 5th National Open Data Summit in 2026, highlighting
its commitment to transparency and open data culture.

The Government of Navarra will host the 5th
National Open Data Summit in 2026
, affirming its role as a national leader
in transparency, reuse of public data, and institutional modernization.

The announcement was made during the 4th
National Open Data Summit held in Lanzarote. Joseba Asiáin, Director
General for Open Government, emphasized Navarra’s dedication to structured,
free access to more than 1,200 datasets
, promoting civic participation and
public policy improvement.

Navarra’s data governance strategy focuses
on:

  1. Quality over quantity: ensuring
    data accuracy and usefulness.
  2. Interoperability: integrating data
    from UPNA, NASTAT, and IDENA to enhance coverage.
  3. External validation: guaranteeing
    data reliability and relevance.

Furthermore, the Navarra Open Data Portal
integrates with national and European infrastructures, creating a strong,
accessible digital ecosystem. This initiative is part of the Navarra Digital
Agenda 2030
and its status in the Open Government Partnership, where
Navarra is the only Spanish region recently admitted.
