2025 Spain Immigration Reforms: a door open to global professionals

11 de June de 2025

With
Spain’s new immigration regulation effective May 20, 2025, residence permits
are more flexible and accessible for international professionals, students, and
investors—while Navarra remains a prime region to welcome global talent.

Spain’s updated Immigration Regulation
(RD?1155/2024) introduces major improvements to attract international talent:
Key updates:
  • Streamlined settlement permits (arraigo): Now five categories, with reduced continuous residency
requirement to 2 years—lowering barriers for long-term residents
    and undocumented professionals.
  • Extended jobseeker visa: Valid for 1
    year
, up from 3?months—offering more time to secure employment.
  • Digital-first processes: Simplified
visa and family reunification applications via online portal, targeting 3–6
    month
    decisions.
  • Upgraded student permits: Increased
flexibility—students can work up to 30?h/week, and permits now span
the entire academic duration with easy renewal.
Additionally, family members (spouses,
registered partners, and children under 26) receive a special residency
status
with work authorization upon application submission.

These changes position Spain as a welcoming
destination for global talent. Navarra is at the forefront, offering support
and infrastructure to facilitate this incoming wave of professionals, students,
and innovators.
