The<br \/>\nUniversity Hospital of Navarra (HUN) has launched a multicentre Phase Ib\/II<br \/>\nclinical trial to evaluate a new therapeutic strategy for small-cell lung cancer,<br \/>\na particularly aggressive disease with limited treatment options when it<br \/>\nreturns.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span lang=\"EN-US\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span lang=\"EN-US\">The first<br \/>\npatient has already received treatment, and the trial is expected to involve at<br \/>\nleast nine hospitals across Spain and a total of 60 patients over the coming<br \/>\nmonths. <\/span><\/div>\n<div><span lang=\"EN-US\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><b><span lang=\"EN-US\">Exploring<br \/>\na new approach to cancer treatment<\/span><\/b><\/div>\n<div><span lang=\"EN-US\">The<br \/>\nclinical trial will evaluate IDP-121, an experimental drug designed to target<br \/>\nthe MYC protein, which plays an important role in tumour growth and<br \/>\nprogression.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span lang=\"EN-US\">The drug<br \/>\nwill be studied in combination with conventional chemotherapy to assess its<br \/>\nsafety and potential therapeutic activity.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span lang=\"EN-US\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span lang=\"EN-US\">This<br \/>\nresearch is particularly significant because small-cell lung cancer accounts<br \/>\nfor approximately 15% of all lung cancer cases and has a high recurrence rate.<br \/>\nDeveloping new treatment strategies therefore remains an important priority in<br \/>\noncology research. <\/span><\/div>\n<div><span lang=\"EN-US\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><b><span lang=\"EN-US\">Connecting<br \/>\nhospitals, science and biotechnology<\/span><\/b><\/div>\n<div><span lang=\"EN-US\">One of the<br \/>\nmost valuable aspects of the project is the collaboration between different<br \/>\norganisations within Navarra&#8217;s healthcare and research ecosystem.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span lang=\"EN-US\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span lang=\"EN-US\">The trial<br \/>\nis being developed by the University Hospital of Navarra, Navarrabiomed and the<br \/>\nNavarra Institute for Health Research (IdISNA), with biotechnology company IDP<br \/>\nPharma acting as the study sponsor.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span lang=\"EN-US\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span lang=\"EN-US\">The<br \/>\nresearch is led by Dr Hugo Arasanz Esteban, a medical oncologist at the<br \/>\nUniversity Hospital of Navarra and researcher at Navarrabiomed.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span lang=\"EN-US\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span lang=\"EN-US\">This<br \/>\ncollaboration highlights the importance of bringing together clinical<br
